A: I booked my session as a way to celebrate turning 50! When I saw Kristen’s work, I knew I had to have HER!
“I really didn’t know what to expect and felt pretty nervous going into my session. Once the pictures started being snapped and Kristen was gushing about how amazing they looked- I still had my doubts”
Q: How did you feel when you saw your images for the first time?
A: I could not believe the person in these photos was me! I couldn’t stop staring at myself!
“The sneak peeks at the back of the camera were enough to helped me realize that Kristen was an expert in her craft, and I was in the right hands”
Q: How did your session with Kristen effect you long term?
A: Our own self-image is so skewed that we think we aren’t beautiful, or sexy. Having my picture taken by Kristen was the single most empowering experience I have ever had. I am no longer plagued by those negative self-thoughts- and more often than not now, I feel like a goddess.

Client Spotlight: Boudoir Experience

We enjoyed reading about Amanda’s personal experience with boudoir photography and we hope you do, too!
Q: What was your initial reason for booking a boudoir photography session?
A: “Initially I booked it as a surprise for a significant other, but I quickly realized this was truly a gift for me instead. I had worked for a few years prior to lose a drastic amount of weight and with the help of a specialty physician and personal trainer and having had reconstructive surgery as a result of that weight loss. My very first shoot was like the final piece of the puzzle. The images allowed me to see the end result of what I had worked so hard for.”
Q: What was it like seeing your images for the first time?
A: “Tears! All the happy tears, instantly. Seeing all of my images for the first time was almost like watching a slide show of someone else because it didn’t seem possible that this stunning woman in the photographs could actually be me, but it was me!”
“When I met Kristen McKay, I had no idea how drastic of an impact Kristen and her team of extraordinary women would change my life. What I do know with absolute certainty, is that I am eternally grateful for it.”
Q: Has anything changed for you since your boudoir experience?
A: “It is no exaggeration to say this experience has changed my life for the better. It is difficult to grasp the overwhelming feeling of empowerment these sessions give you until you have done it yourself. Not just in the moment or when you see the final images- but in your life going forward!”
Q: How has boudoir photography impacted your body image as a woman?
A: “I personally struggle with severe body dysmorphia. I still look in the mirror and fight to see the person I am today, versus the obesity I fought to overcome most of my life. Boudoir photography has become a tool for me. On my worst days struggling with the dysmorphia these images give me something tangible and concrete. I can’t argue with them in my mind, the way I can with struggles in a mirror.”
Q: Would you recommend Kristen McKay Photo to other women?
A: “YES! This is something every woman should do for themselves! It is likely that you’ll go into this with the notion that you’ll get some hot photos of yourself or maybe even for someone else, and believe me, your photos will be scorching! But, in reality, you come out of it with so much more than that. Kristen & team are just incredibly remarkable, and they helped me to see me for the amazing, beautiful, and powerful woman that I am!”
“The moment you step on set, any ounce of nervousness you have will disappear. This is the most comfortable, empowering and fun experience I think I’ve ever had! You will laugh constantly and have so much fun! Most importantly, you’ll look & feel incredible, and you will leave this experience different then you initially went into it, with a confidence you likely didn’t know could exist inside of yourself. AND best of all, that confidence stays with you going forward.”
